These concerts have demonstrated the power that music has to build community, serve others, inspire peace, and celebrate the joy of living together in harmony on this earth. This year's concert will feature nationally known artists along with well known regional artists. Ensembles already confirmed include the Kalamazoo Male Chorus and award winning Loy Norrix High School Orchestra. Renown World flutist Gary Stroutsos (see Stroutsos' bio attached) will be performing with percussionist Carolyn Koebel, vibraphonist Jim Cooper, and flutist Ken Morgan. Well-known music educators, Sally & Jim Roach will also be performing. Several other talented artists will be confirmed in the near future. ST. MARTIN INDIA OUTREACH DESCRIPTION: This Outreach began in 2010 in collaboration with the Church of North India; the on-going projects serve the poorest of the poor: the Dalits (“untouchables”), the indigenous tribal peoples, and people who have been directly and indirectly affected by leprosy. St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church, Kalamazoo, Michigan has coordinated contributions from many local and national donors to fund the following projects:
built a children’s hostel in Purulia, West Bengal, India (2011)to house, feed, clothe, and educate up to 40 children and provide after school programs & tutoring to approximately 60 children in the surrounding leper colony
children's hostel additions (2012-2014) women's sewing center (2013)a tailor-teacher instructs women to sew and tailor clothes which leads to opportunities for employment
India Blood Bank St. Martin's is now partners with the Portage Rotary Club & Rotary International to establish a much needed Blood Bank at the hospital in Sarenga, West Bengal, India.
